About Us

Primrose Park Art & Craft Centre is one of North Sydney Council's Community Centres. It is managed and operated by a committee of volunteers who provide the content of these pages. The other Community Centres provide a range of services which complement those we provide.

Since we opened in 1991, we have provided educational and recreational resources to the community, concentrating on the paper-based arts and crafts. We provide workshops for interested members of the community, we hold exhibitions and we organise other activities appropriate to each particular branch of the arts.

The Centre is well equipped with papermaking and bookbinding equipment and has a professional-standard framing installation. There is a fully-equipped traditional photographic darkroom and a well-lit gallery space for display of members' work. We have great facilities for digital photography, too.

With so many people involved, sharing use of the Centre involves quite a lot of organisation. You can see our sharing arrangements for this year by viewing our calendar - click HERE!

Please click on the name of each group for specific information on their operations, facilities, coming events, etc.

Community Hall

North Sydney Council has equipped the Primrose Park Community Hall as an artists' exhibition space. The Hall is located immediately beside the Community Centre. For information on using the Community Hall for an exhibition, please click HERE.

Functions in the Park

Bookings for functions in Primrose Park are managed by North Sydney Council so enquiries to the Art & Craft Centre won't be very productive. However you can get some information on the Council's requirements and limitations on such events by clicking HERE to download a document which also includes an application form.

Additional Artists' Studios

As part of the Primrose Park arts precinct, North Sydney Council has set up a separate studio intended to accommodate two artists. An artist-in-residence scheme operates, with the studio being made available for periods of six months at a low rental. For information on the scheme, including qualification criteria, costs, insurance requirements, etc., please contact the Council's booking officer on (02) 9936 8200.

Other art-oriented groups may be able to join Primrose Park provided that the processes they use are compatible with the environmental requirements of the existing members and suitable sharing arrangements can be agreed. All enquiries in this respect should be addressed to the Management Committee.
