VANDYKE WORKSHOP
with Wendy Currie

Learn how to make vandyke prints
on watercolour paper

Van Dyke is a 19th Century photographic printing process. An iron salt solution is brushed onto watercolour paper then dried and placed in contact with a large negative. It is exposed to the sun or UV lightbox and processed in further chemicals. Each image is hand-coated and therefore unique with its own characteristics

In 1991 Wendy completed a Graduate Diploma specialising in 19th Century photographic printing processes, and has been fascinated by them ever since. This workshop is a totally engaging hands-on experience
Participants with some darkroom knowledge required.

Venue: Primrose Park Art & Craft Centre, Cremorne, Sydney

Paper Arts - TIPS & TRICKS FOR MONOTYPES
10am - 3pm, Monday October 25
Cost: Free but materials fee of $10 to be sent to treasurer

This workshop will introduce and explore basic printing techniques developed by Paul Gaugin called trace monotype. This is an easy process and consists of inking a surface, layering paper over it and drawing over the surface to receive ink in a linear manner. Paul Klee also used this method for his drawings. Only one strong impression can be taken using oil based inks in a low toxicity environment. We can also explore possibilities for the use of chine colle (collage) with handmade papers, rice and mulberry papers. A materials list will be sent but studio inks and equipment will be available for which a small materials fee is charged. THIS IS A MEMBER ONLY WORKSHOP.
