Workshops and Events

The Primrose Park time-sharing arrangements give us the opportunity to offer several workshops each month as well as school holiday programs and special workshops involving visiting tutors. Our planned workshops are detailed below. If you would like more information, please email us at paperarts@primrose-park.com.au

Papermaking is a great activity for schoolchildren, and they love our school holiday workshops. The list below changes, of course, but you should find some interesting children's workshops for the next school holidays.

You can download an enrolment form for any of these workshops by clicking HERE

TIPS & TRICKS: PULP LAYERED LANDSCAPES
10am - 3pm, Mon 8 March

Tapping into ideas derived from Jan Marinos' workshop at IAPMA, Marie Waterhouse will suggest some experiments with various techniques of layering coloured pulps, possibly, on to A4 or a larger base sheet comprised of several overlapping A4 sheets. (Each participant will work on their own creation). We will work with a variety of colours creating landscape-like or abstract designs, which will involve manipulating the pulp on the screen (by water cutting or hand dragging or multiple dipping) before layering them onto the base sheets and building up the image.

ARMATURE SCULPTURE & JAPANESE FIBRES
10am - 4pm, Sat & Sun 13 - 14 March

Ethereal works will be produced on structures made from bamboo, cane and other materials. Two techniques for attaching papers to these structures will be covered in the course. The structures can be random and free form or may resemble practical forms such as baskets. Some time will be spent in preparing pre-cooked kozo for use on both structures. An introduction to Nagashizuki sheet formation will also be covered in the class with an opportunity to try this technique.

THREE BOOKS IN ONE DAY
9.30am - 4.30pm, Sat 27 March, 2010

No! not the same 3 books as those in 2009, but again a slightly extended working day.
BOOK 1 requires no sewing and the pages are held together by paper or material tapes woven over an armature which creates a decorative spine as well as compensating for any photos, prints or other memorabilia added to avoid foredge swell.
BOOK 2 also features a decorative spine finish which is created by two layers of cross stitch which hold both text and cover together. Beads may be incorporated as an additional decorative finish.
BOOK 3 is an attractive miniature concertina photo album in its own matching box.
Full materials list with options and details of simple pre-preparation will be provided before the workshop.
