Workshops and Events

The Primrose Park time-sharing arrangements give us the opportunity to offer several workshops each month as well as school holiday programs and special workshops involving visiting tutors.

Our planned workshops are detailed below. If you would like more information, please email us at paperarts@primrose-park.com.au

Papermaking is a great activity for schoolchildren, and they love our school holiday workshops. The list below changes, of course, but you should find some interesting children's workshops for the next school holidays.

Calligraphy for Makers of Books and Paper: Enhancing Your Handwriting
10am - 4pm, 24 March and 28 April 2012

Calligraphy quite simply goes hand in hand with paper and books. Discover ways to turn your everyday handwriting into a personalised informal calligraphic style to use in your bookmaking, art and papermaking practices. This series of 2 workshops, held a month apart to allow time for practice in between, will show you exciting ways to enhance your own individual style of handwriting and introduce you to some easy calligraphic scripts. Through a series of exercises using good handwriting principles with pencil, monoline pens and calligraphy style pens and tools, Julie will show you how you can enhance your lettering skills to achieve a more polished and creative look. Julie will also discuss considerations for best use of mediums and tools for lettering inclusions in books and when making paper.

Julie is a highly regarded professional calligrapher and practicing artist, who also loves bookbinding and paper! She runs a busy calligraphy studio on the Northern Beaches, and has over 28 years of teaching experience. Visit her website website www.inkspiration.com.au
