First National Photography Festival
Vivid, the National Photography Festival, will be held for the first time in Canberra from 11 July to 12 October 2008. It will celebrate the vital role of photography in Australian life and history. Over 100 separate exhibitons will go to make up the Festival.
A committee made up of representatives of the National Library, the National Gallery, the ANU, the Canberra Institute of Technology and the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers is organising this major show.
Apart from the exhibitions there will be a wide range of lectures, workshops and community events illustrating the major influence of photography in our lives. You can get a lot more information on the Festival HERE
Primrose Park involvement
Two Primrose Park Photographers have been invited to participate in one of the Festival exhibitions. Tony Peri has spectacularly mastered the almost-forgotten art of Bromoil printing.Jill Lacina has been doing some wonderful work in Cyanotype. They were joint Artists-in-Residence at the Primrose Park studio for six months and produced a very well-received (and successful) exhibition at the completion of their residency.
They have been invited to participate in the Alternative Photography Exhibition at The Church Gallery. This will be a group exhibition of 120 works, opening on July 12 (at 2pm). The Church Gallery is located at 7 O'Hanlon Place, Gold Creek, Canberra and of course everyone is very welcome to attend.
